Ben

Ben, a 15-year-old pianist and trombonist, has distinguished himself in both classical and jazz genres. He achieved Grade 8 Distinction on piano and trombone and performs with ensembles such as the Vince Dunn Orchestra and South London Youth Orchestra. His composition for Future Talent, “Reel One,” blends jazz, Latin, and funk influences. “Jazz has been a massive part of my musical journey. My composition follows a 12-bar blues structure with a funk groove, featuring counterpoint between the bass and melody. Improvisation plays a key role, with horn and rhythm section solos that add an unpredictable and exciting layer to the piece,” Ben shares. The composition showcases Ben’s deep passion for jazz and improvisation, reflecting the joy of collaboration and creativity fostered by Future Talent.
